This is a very fine Japanese cloisonne vase from the 1890's. The work is good enough to be Hayashi. The vase is rather large at 9 1/2 inches and loaded with fine detailing. It is not perfect and the price reflects this. At one time it was a lamp. The drill hole was nicely filled but there are several craze lines around the vase. The rims appear to be silver or nickle. This is a beautiful rare piece of cloisonne.

Nice antique bags from Afghanistan with exquisite silk embroidery. Bought these in Peshawar in the mid 90s. There is red satin on the larger bag is new and can be removed the smaller bag has a stain but may wash out (never tried so no guarantees). The lantern section is different than most ishidoro in that it's roof is rounded and does not have curling corners but instead is more mushroom like in form. Japanese lacquered on Reed Kimono Tray, Ca. 1940's, 26" x 16", 4" high, top trim is almost 1/2" thick wood lacquered frame with gold foliage design on black, brown chestnut color lacquered on woven reed basket. There are some small missing lacquer pieces on the trim and reed basket.

Antique Japanese pair of bronze three section lanterns. Tall finials in flame shapes adorn temple style lids and small bronze bells hanging from the edges. Would have originally been used with well light candles, the pair is perfectly matched. The caged midsection has reticulated spiral design walls, which stands on large bell shaped feet. Nice patina due to natural oxidation. Mid to Late Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) Size: 36" H x 14" W
