An antique Japanese Kasane Tansu (2 section Kimono chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware including the Hirute handles and Urushi lacquered body. Lock plates shaped in the form of the auspicious Paulownia leaf. Upper section has 2 drawers and a hinged safety door with two small drawers behind. Lower section has 2 full width drawers.

An unusual brilliantly colored fresh water jar for the tea ceremony by Living National Treasure Tokuda Masahiko (Yasokichi III) enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It ocmes with the original black lacquered lid. It is 14cm (5-1/2 inches) diameter 20.5cm(8 inches) tall and in perfect condition. There are chips to the lacquer on the handle of the lid, which are currently being professionally repaired.

Serene Thai Lanna Buddha, gilt wood, sitting on stepped and draped Throne, base shows age, but Buddha itself is in very good condition. This Position of Hands, i.e. in deep meditation, now rarely found in this size statue.

Gilded Wooden Cupid Angels, Baroque, fine work, found in Burma, but with obvious European influence as Burma was a British colony at that time, mounted on gilt antique wooden base/stands. 19th Century, size of angel only: H. 33cm x W.29 cm x D. 21cm including wings (with base: 46x21x21 excluding wings), good condition considering age, some inconsequential aging and very rare, price shown is per angel, not the pair. From our Japanese Collection, a very good, large, and older pair of Japanese cloisonne vases, late Edo to early Meiji Period, probably 1850-1875, executed with floral motifs including wisteria, peony, and chrysanthemum, along with small birds and butterflies, all set against a turquoise blue ground upon a lobed, melon-shaped form.

This is an attractive and quite sizable pair of early cloisonne that illustrates the evolution of this art form just prior to the Golden Age, when the Japanese ...

From our Chinese Blue and White Collection, a good Ming Dynasty kraakware dish, late Wanli Period circa 1600-1620, of well-known and documented form, executed in Border VIII style with a central bird some scholars opine is either a magpie or a duck, sitting upon a lotus pond outcropping and encircled by a ten-point buddhist star, further encircled by ten ogival panels of buddhist symbols in the outer border, all executed in a slightly greyish blue on a barbed-form dish with slightly upturned lip...

A rare finely decorated 'ogee' shaped 'famille rose' bowl. This item carries the iron red seal mark of the Tongzhi Emperor (1862-1874) and was made during his reign (1862-1874). There is wear to the gilding on the rim. No damages and no restoration. 2.3 inches (5.7cm) High 5.3 inches (13.8cm) Diameter.
