A masterful rendering of an unusually large rooster posturing in full stance. The metals used are copper, silver, and gold. The major body of the cockerel is called shibuichi which is meticulously composed of silver and copper mixture. The feathers are beautifully sculpted and chased in details. The movement of the feathers pronounce the figurative composition. Its tail feather is patinated and infused into the silver.

Who says the work of a woman potter is feminine? This is a powerful Iga work by Watanabe Aiko enclosed in the original signed wooden box. There is nothing sedate about this work, charred and dripping with glassy green glaze, freckled with flying ash; the heavy lug handles jutting from the side slightly off kilter. The vessel is 7 inches (17 cm) tall, roughly the same diameter and in excellent condition.

Up for sale is an antique Chinese Qing dynasty round rank badge, 5-claw dragon couched with gold wrapped threads, and other fine embroideries including flaming pearl, clouds, sea waves and buddhist auspicious objects, framed and glazed. The badge is taken from the surcoat of a mmperial family member who was allowed to wear a round badge during the Qing dynasty. A large Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD) cold-painted pot from an old Japanese scholar collection enclosed in an ancient kiri-wood storage box bearing a great many stamps inside the lid. The fine clay is covered in elaborate designs in red, white brown and orange pigment. The piece is 11 inches (28 cm) tall. There is minor damage to the rim but no repair or restoration; a fine example of Han Dynasty painted pottery in fine condition.
