Sold. Thank you. This ancient conch shell bead from the Pyu period and dates back to around the first century.
It represents the emblem of the voice of Buddha preaching the laws of his doctrine, and occurs as one of the auspicious signs on the "Footprint of Buddha".
Size: L. 2.2cm. Condition: No repairs. In the enlarged photos you will see the natural faults of the stone but is not very noticeable with the naked eye.

Qashqai rugs typically have designs of diamond shaped medallions. It has various shades of oranges and reds on brown abrash and off-white ground. It measures 12'5" by 4'10".

Sold through our Liverpool shop - July 2013 利物浦店内售出 - 2013年7月 A deep dish or shallow bowl delicately painted with famille rose enamels depicting two historical figures with their titles and accompanying poems and with a peach and bat to the centre. The base carries the reign mark of the Daoguang emperor and this item was possibly made during his reign. Condition - there are chips and cracks to the rim - please view enlargements - would make a good study piece. 16cm (6.25inches) diameter; 3cm (1.2inches) deep.

The green glaze used for oribe is thought be difficult to produce and only the most skilled potters can produce the green color by knowing the temperature and timing when fired. The dish was produced by the Gensui kiln in Seto city Aichi prefecture. The studio specializes in producing oribe wares. Age: Showa Period. Size: height 10" diameter 14.5"

The lid and the side of the boxes contain images of prunus done in hira-makie. The jubako was done in the Ryukyu Islands where the motifs contain influences from Japan, China, Korea, and Southeast Asia.

The bowl has subtle textures, the center has a faint lotus flower encircled by an incised line, the body has radiating lines from the center, the rim of the bowl is slightly recessed. It measures 14" in diameter, 5" tall. The base has an unglazed ring where it was fired in the kiln and the unglazed ceramic can be seen.

The panels are painted with peony, lotus and other flowers; one panel depicts an egret amongst water plants. This item was made in China in the late 18th or early 19th Century, circa 1790-1820 during the Qianlong or Jiaqing reign.
