Colour and glaze are equally rare and wonderful. We offer this fantastic chawan together with its Edo period wooden storage box and its cloth pouch called 'Shifuku'. This Hagi Gohon Chawan has a split cross footring called 'warekodai'. Tea bowls of this style were favored by busho chajin (warrior tea men). ... Japanese Arita porcelain round form deep dish decorated in underglaze blue with a karashishi (Buddhist lion dog) among leafy flowers set against a faintly celadon tinted white ground.
