The female Bodhisattva seated in dhyanasane stop a double totus pedestal, the left hand resting in vitarka mudra, the serene face framed by a foliate tiara, the body adroned with various jewelry, together with a large Japanese lacquer wood stand. {Height of the statue: approximately 22 inches (56 cm); Height of the lacquer stand: approximately 10 inches (25.4 cm)}.

The figure dates to Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644 AD. The figure is placed on a large Lotus throne on top of high hexagonal plint, both are in fine deep cobolt blue and turquiose coloured glaze, as is the robe. This stoneware bowl was made at the Sawankhalok kilns around the 14th - 15th century. It is coated in an attractive and finely-crackled translucent celadon glaze that has just a hint of blue to it. It has become slightly warped during firing and the glaze has pooled to one side in its centre. This stoneware jar, or bottle of globular form was made during the 14th - 15th centuries at one of the Sawankhalok kilns. It is particularly heavily-potted. Around the shoulder and lower body are repeated bands of lightly incised lines. There are two small loop handles at the neck. It is coated in a finely-crackled greenish-grey glaze that falls short of the foot revealing the dark reddish brown stoneware body. To the base is the circular mark ...
