An absolutely stunning Edo Period black Oribe tea bowl covered in thick, ink black glaze with a floral and abstract design.

The slightly irregular shaped kutsu-gata (shoe shaped) form settles easily into the palm of the hand, with the built up rim resting lightly on the fingers.

The tea bowl comes together with a good box with pouch (shifuku) and corner protections (hashira).

Japanese mid 20th century cylindrical shaped bamboo flower basket by basket master, TANABE CHIKUUNSAI II. TANABE CHIKUUNSAI II, from the Osaka area, lived from 1910 to 1999. This basket is signed by the artist and comes with TOMOBAKO, its original wooden artist signed storage box. Also comes with original TOMOGIRE or artist stamped wrapping cloth and OTOSHI, or bamboo water holder. The basket measures 14" tall, 6 7/8" wide and 6 1/2" deep.

An 18th-early 19th century Literati landscape featuring a scholars gathering in a forest of pines on one side, a pair of boats pulling up to a hermitage on the other. These are published in the book Jidai Byobu Shuei (pre-restoration, pages 76 and 77). They have been completely restored maintaining the original cloth border and are in superb condition. Each screen measures 70-1/2 x 150-1/2 inches (179 x 382 cm).

Plums blossom across 24 panels, harbinger of Spring and a cue to the scholars it is time to end the winter isolation and set out on journeys to old acquaintances. Ink and light color on paper dated 1913 with applied gold flake in a silk border decorated with gold designs enclosed in a black lacquer wooden frame. It retains the original backing paper. Chinese Jadeite Jade Pipe end, top is greenish and lighter green toward the bottom, 1 3/4" high, 1 3/8" diameter-top with small hole and other side has large open hole to fitted into the main pipe. There are some wear marks around the top and bottom rim, otherwise the condition is good.

Chinese Nephrite Jade reclining Horse Toggle, white with light brown inclusions with very smooth oily patina, Ca. before 1900, 2 1/8" long, 1 1/8" high, horse is seated position looking backward, with small hole through the top to the bottom. It is difficult to capture the translucent white Jade through camera. The condition is good.

Chinese late Ming dynasty Wanli period porcelain kendi with a compressed globular body and mammiform spout decorated on the globular body in underglaze cobalt blue with flowers and scrolling foliage.
