It has round, copper accents going around the top and bottom of the bowl, as well as geometric shape allover design. Antique Tibetan kapala, or human skullcup, with a beautiful bronze stand. In Tibet, it was considered a great honor to have one's cranium turned into a kapala, which would be used for religious purposes. Kapalas are used in the Hindu Tantra and Buddhist religions. The skull itself is very old and is lined with nickel. The bronze stand has a beautiful lotus design, skulls going all around, the image of a kneeling worshipper, and hoof shaped feet. I acquired this in Yunnan, China along the Burmese border but of Shan (nationality in China). Although there is some damage the craftsmanship is exquisite which is why I put a grain of sand in a couple of the images to put the work into perspective...

Rare Javanese hand fan, made circa 1890 - 1905. The fan portion is a made of water buffalo hide that has been very ornately pierced, painted, and gold gilt. The delicate looking frame is made from water buffalo horn, which has been finely carved and curved. There are no condition issues save for a loose thread or two that can be clipped or reattached. Measures 10.25" by 9" across.

Striking antique Siam mid to late 19th. century Ayutthaya Kampheng head of Buddha Sakyamuni (The Awakened One). His face with serene expression, closed eyes, aquiline nose, smiling lips and elongated earlobes with earrings.

The head is hollow inside and mounted on a wood base. It has a weight of almost 6 kg. No repairs, good condition.

Size incl. wood base: 49 cm height x 23 cm width x 23 cm length.
