A sublime antique Japanese tsuba centered on the theme of the ocean. The tsuba contains motifs of abalone shell, basket weave pattern, and waves peeking through the patterned holes near the area where the blade would have been fitted. Tsuba is done in iron with mixed metal accents to highlight the abalone shell and rope. Age: 19th century, Edo period. Size: Diameter: 3.25"

Antique Japanese tsuba done in the finest craftsmanship. Made of iron with extensive shakudo nanako plate overall and with many gold blossoms. A motif of very detailed chrysanthemums densely covers both sides of the tsuba. The view in general would be titled, "Kikka Senpi zu" or Chrysanthemums in full bloom. Age: Possibly Momoyama Period. A rare Kotou ware vase with meticulous painting done on the surface with an image of herons and reeds on one side, and a late spring flower bouquet still life. The Koto ware was established in 1829 by Kinuya Hanbei who invited an artisan trained in producing imari wares. The kilns continued production until 1842 where the Hikone clan took over and made the kilns part of the clan. The kilns declined after the assassination of Ii Naosuke in 1860 and the last existing kiln closed in 1895...

Beautiful antique Japanese large covering originally used in a Buddhist temple. Three deep blue silk panels sewn together and woven with gold in design of 18 chrysanthemums and 18 floral roundels. Chrysanthemums with 32 petals, back is lined with a light blue cotton.
Inscription of previous owner, which states: Noto, Kashima-gun, Koura Village property of the abbot of Kouken (ji) temple...

This piece is almost identical to the work submitted by the artist to the 7th Nihon Dento Kogei Ten in 1983 (featured as item number 116 in the catalog for that year) and indeed, shares the title Hi-iro In-mon Tsubo (Flame-Colored Stamp-Patterned Tsubo). It measures 34 cm (13-1/2 inches) diameter, 29.5 cm (12 inches) tall and is in excellent condition.

However, I do not stand out. It is very beautiful. The lining is angular momentum crimson silk. size:136cm x 123cm (53.5" x 48.4")

This is beni-itajime katazome silk jyuban kimono textile of the Meiji era(1868-1912). The motif is dyed in a dyer's saffron with a cherry tree. Other parts are rinzu silk. It has pole a few stains. However, I do not stand out. It does not have damage and is very beautiful. size:146cm x 123cm (57.5" x 48.4")

Large rosewood display chest, made in China for export to Japan, beautifully inlaid with scenes of flowers, insects, birds and a frog, many shelves for display, one drawer, cabinet doors open to compartment with two shelves, late 19th century c1900. Size: 68" high x 48 3/4" wide x 17 3/4" deep.

Jurojin getting an earful; a humorous image by Suzuki Shonen showing the elderly god having his ear cleaned by his companion, the long lived crane. It comes enclosed in a double wooden box annotated by Konishi Fukunen (1887-1959) and bears a label from the Daimaru Department Store. Fukunen was one of Shonens most famous pupils. The ink and light color on paper image is bordered in a superb brocade mounting with solid ivory rollers...

Antique Japanese large lacquer fumibako (letter box for paper), beautiful design of silver hydrangeas flowers with gold lacquer leaves on top and sides, black lacquer with nishiji (gold fleck) ground, interior with the same black lacquer and nishiji ground, underside of lid with dramatic gold makie lacquer scene of young pine sprouts and grass, Meiji Period. Size: 15 3/4" long x 12 3/4" wide x 5 1/2" deep.

A large silk painting of a scene from the history of Japan by Kai Seihyo (1882-1974), one of Japan's noted painters specializing in historical subjects. Kai Seihyo was trained at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts. It was later in Seihyo's life where the artist began producing unique historical subjects and received high acclaim where Seihyo was known for his paintings of samurai and horses. Age: 1948-1960, late Showa Era. Size: Length: 47" Width: 28.5"

Antique Japanese Bronze Warrior with upraised arm holding a Buddhist Bell Bowl and holding spear in other arm. Gold leaf on raised design. Very fine detail, good condition with small wear to gilt. On hardwood stand, bell taper inside bowl. Bronze figure is 17.5" High, with bowl 24" High, 30" High overall.

A striking Bizen Chawan of mixed clay by young artist Yokoyama Naoki enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The mixed earth is pulled and twisted out of shape; one can sense the plasticity with your eyes. The stretched earth is burnt red where it has been licked by flame, yet remains pale from the shadows of the kiln. The bowl is just less than 5 inches (12 cm) diameter, 3-1/2 inches (8.5 cm) tall and in fine condition...

A sprawl of chrysanthemum are delicately painted growing beneath the elegant curves of a Kanshi poem on this fine silk scroll by Kamisaka Sekka enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Pigment and ink on silk with silk border and black lacquered rollers. The scroll measures 11-1/2 x 73-1/2 inches (30 x 186 cm) and in fine condition.
