Of typical triangular shape. These netsuke were often carved by plectrum carvers. Made in Kyoto in the 18th century. H. 10 cm. Good age wear and patina, very good condition, even the feet are intact. Comes with a custom made brass stand.

Sold, Thank you! A dramatic basin brutalized by the elements by Shigaraki Master Tsujimura Shiro enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Representative of this artists work, the lip has split with heat, one edge blasted off, and the entire charred and buried in ash. The dish measures 7.5 cm (3 inches) deep, 29 cm (12 inches) diameter and is in excellent condition.
Tsujimura Shiro was born in Nara in 1947, and began his steps into the art world as an oil painter...

The Kura

A hand carved antique wooden mask of Tenko or the nine-tailed Kuuko, heavenly White Fox (kitsune) which do good, wrapped in a modern silk bag and enclosed in an antique black lacquered wooden box. The mask is roughly 21-1/2 x 17 x 20 cm (8-1/2 x 7 x 8 inches) and in excellent condition. A cartouche bearing the artists signature can be seen inside the black lacquer within. The Fox has many roles in Japanese Folklore...

sold thank you This is japanese Indigo dye shibori cotton kimono textile of the Meiji era(1868-1910). It has a few thin stains. However, it does not have damage.It is made of hand-spun natural indigo dyed cotton. The part in front of the sleeve has sewing together.

The chapter that would be closely associated to the screen is Chapter 19, Usugumo, translated as Wisp of Clouds. The scene is showing Prince Genji wearing a white informal court robe, lined with red and is selecting robes for the visit of Lady Akashi.
