Lovely lacquerware inro, decorated with fish an seashells. With a coral ojime and a carved cinnabar lacquer netsuke. Meiji period (1868-1912). Signed at the bottom. Measurements: the inro 6x5,5 cm, the netsuke 3x2 cm.

This is a well done and rather large Japanese Cloisonne Jar. It is done in the Kyoto style and decorated with three phoenix birds. The piece is stoutly made with thick rims and is quite heavy. The artist we are not sure but the mottled enamel used may point towards Honda. The piece is in excellent condition with just a tiny loss of enamel on the underside of the lid where the knob is attached. It stands 8 1/2 inches.

Antique Japanese Boxwood Persimmon and Chestnut Netsuke, these edible objects arranged together are the charming symbols of the fall season. This bibelot has a softly rubbed and smoothed surface and it's himatoshi has unequally sized holes. Size 1.25"High x 1.25" Wide, Edo Period, circa pre 1850s.

An antique Japanese bronze water pot or ewer decorated and shaped in the style emulating Chinese Shang dynasty bronzes. The tripod leg often is referring to the ding where it was thought that these vessels were used to serve wine. Has a Kanji charactor on base that can be translated to men "to offer". A Japanese iron garden lantern often referred to as a toro. Often these lanterns are placed within a garden setting to guide guests towards a tea house or an entrance to a building. The iron lantern contains a short inscription with the date when the piece was made (first year of Taisho, 1912) and that the lantern was made by Yojiro. Simple yet refined Japanese patinated bronze vase. The mouth of the vase is cut in a way that appears like a flower in full bloom. The vase contains a signature by an artist named Seifu. The vase comes with a wooden stand. Age: Showa Period Size:Height 13.5" Diameter 9.5"

Rare blue sharkskin porcelain tea caddy with a bird, flowers, and butterflies. The bird and butterflies are glossy and do not have the sharkskin texture giving this piece a beautiful contrast which was not an easy feat for the artist to achieve. The blue background graduates from light at the bottom to darker shade of light blue at the top. Signed and in excellent condition, it measures 6 inches tall with lid on.

An exquisite white shape by Nagae Shigekazu enclosed in the original signed wooden box dating circa 1996. Inscribed light patterns like waving blades of grass are almost indiscernible on the surface, incredibly detailed and crisp when viewed close-up, a green splash of color like a Christmas ribbon circling the form in both directions. This is an exceptional Japanese Satsuma cabinet Vase. The intense work is reminiscent to that of Yabu Meizan, Meizan or even Seikozan. The decorations are very rich and intricate . Running up to the end of our 60s and 70s ceramics, here is a great piece by a student of Yagi Kazuo, Yoshitake Hiromu (Hiroshi) enclosed in the original signed wooden box and dating from the late 60s or early 70s encapsulating the feeling of rage against conformity then rupturing the Japanese ceramic world. This is Japanese porcelain vase from one of the great Meiji artists. It is signed Kawamoto Hansuke. The vase has a wonderful stout shape and is very heavy. It has what appears to be several firing flaws or just an unusual design to several of the flowers. The vase measures 7 1/4 tall and is 7 1/2 inches wide.

This is a very fine and extremely detailed Japanese satsuma vase. It was made by Kinkozan but the style reminds me more of a Ryozan piece. It is signed on the underside with an impressed mark. It stands 7 1/2 inches tall and in 4 3/4 inches wide. The vase is in excellent condition.

Chawan in Raku style, made in dry lacquer technique (kanshitsu) simulating ceramic. The lacquer is applied in such a way that you see small crevices and patches of red and brownish black lacquer in the same way we see it in Raku ware. Japan, Meiji era.

Up for sale is this wonderfully textured 19th century Japanese cast iron tea kettle made by noted Kyoto-school tetsubin craftsman Kibundo ( 1812-1892 ).

It is cast in high relief with the image of writings and a landscape.

This fine kettle bears the body-mark “Kibundo zo” and a remnant of the square seal mark of Kibundo on the bottom.

The quality of the relief casting is superb...

This is a very attractive Japanese cloisonne vase by a rare artist. The vase is not signed but the work is very unique. A signed Goto vase with very similar work can be seen on page 79 of the book Japanese Cloisonne by Coben and Ferster. We used to own that vase and the mate that went to it.
