€2,000.00 These pieces are a part of smoking set tabako-ire. It consists of a kiseruzutsu (pipe case) of a tonkotsu(tobacco pouch) in black lacquered crocodile leather. Both parts are bound by a leather link decorated with a red stone ojime.
The tonkotsu is decorated with a menuki (metallic decoration) gilded and skated copper. The menuki has the form of a sitting cross-legged man, joint hands, hidden by the long and wide sleeves of its coat...

SOLD Japanese woven suiban. This low, shallow container is used for ikebana flower arranging. Rectangular in form, this suiban is raised on low feet. A grain or leaf-like design is woven into all sides and the corners have intricate knot work. An oval shaped metal container sits perfectly inside for holding water.

$1,200.00 Beautiful small wooden jizai, or pothook. This type is called Daikoku, after the shape of Daikoku’s hat. These hangers were suspended with a rope from a heavy beam, over the sunken hearth. From the hanger an adjustable hook was hung that held the kettle. Good piece of mingei.
Zelkova wood with rests of smut, especially in the grooves. Japan, 19th century. H 9.5; w 9.25; 2.75 inches. Slight traces of usage, very good condition.

SOLD Antique Japanese Kanban soroban (abacus). Used by merchants, this large sized abacus has eyelets for hanging. It has 21 rows of wooden beads with 5 beads in each column (105 beads total). The beads are fitted onto wooden dowels. Behind each dowel is a boar's hair bristle which holds each bead in position when it's pushed upward even while the soroban is hanging sideways.

The hand warmer is shaped in the form of a winter pumpkin known as an akoda and the design has been in use since the 17th century.
