An unusual large Japanese bowl featuring three light purple elephants in ceremonial attire resting among many flowers. The bowl is excellent condition, except for some wear to the gold around the rim. Measures 11.5 inches in diameter. Dates late Edo, late 1840's.

A beautiful example of Oni Shino by world famous Tsukigata Nahiko enclosed in a wooden box signed by his student Ayukai Kogetsu. Wild glazing and a dark burn on one side define the work, showing reason for this artists great demand. A pair of celadon Te-shoku candle sticks by contemporary potter Orita Tatsuya enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The elegantly sculpted base rises to a dish in which is imbedded a brass pin to secure the candle, with a long tapering handle. The handle features a bamboo nodule decoration in the center, with a curl of clay at the end, the rough edges of which, like a shaving of planed wood contrasting with the perfection of the form...

DESCRIPTION: A large and handsome Sumida Gawa vase with ribbed body, high relief figures and pinched neck. A thick, traditional flambe' glaze in dark brown and blue covers the mouth and neck, and flows down the shoulders. Fine attention to detail has been paid to the handmade figures of a boy and girl standing on ledges against the ribbed body. Inoue (Ryosai) maker's mark in pear-shaped appliqué on the back. Early 20th C. (pre WWII) and in perfect condition; no chips or repairs...

Japanese Imari Porcelain Lunch box/Jubaco with three(3) compartment with lid, 7 3/4" high with lid, 5 1/2" diameter and 2 1/8" high, 5 1/2" diameter for each compartment, Ca. 1920, decorated with typical Imari colors with character of "Happiness". Two(2) flake shallow enamel chips in red character area which is normal wear and tear over the years, overall in good condition.

Japanese Imari Porcelain Bowl, 3 5/8" high, 9 3/4" diameter-top, Ca. 1920, typical Japanese garden scenery over the bamboo fence in large separate panels, flying birds inside smaller cartouches inside the bowl, and sprays of branches in red, green and underglaze blue. The condition is good, no damage.

Japanese large Imari Porcelain Punch Bowl, 4 1/2" high, 12" diameter-top, early 1920, with typical Imari colors of red, green and orange overglaze enamel on top of the underglaze blue, and highlighted in gold. Very delightful Japanese garden scene just outside the door or window in divided cartouches. There are some scratch marks on the bottom inside the bowl, no cracks, no restoration, no damage.

The interior of the cupped mouth holds three sprays of three flowers each and the exterior is bordered with a ruyi head band...
