Statue of Buddha Amithaba or Amitayus, wearing an unusual diadem, jewelry and dhoti, sitting cross-legged on an elevated throne backed by a flaming mandorla, holding the elixir of immortality in his hands. Bronze, with a fine reddish-green patina. This statue is a Sino-Tibetan work, dating late 18th century/early 19th century. Height: 18.5 cm. Very good condition. Provenance: acquired from a Hong Kong antique dealer in 1978.

A delicately cast fire-gilt bronze image of the Four-armed Avalokitesvara (Tibetan: Chenrezig; Chinese: Sibi Guanyin), the Bodhisattva who embody the Universal Compassion, seated in Dyana-asana on a lotus flower. Original sealed bottom. Tibet, 17th cent. H 11 cm. Condition: very good gilding with natural patina due to handling.

A solid cast gilt bronze dating to no later than the 17th century. The piece consists of the upper five heads of a standing Avalokitesvara. Mounted on a custom stand, the piece itself measures 4-1/4" in height. The quality of the casting is first-rate; remains of gilding, as shown in the photos. Antique Indian bronze sculpture of the elephant headed Hindu god Ganesha, known as the Remover of Obstacles. He stands in dance position, a crown on his head and garland of flowers around his shoulders. In four hands he holds his attributes including his goad or ax (cut off all bonds of attachment), a bowl of sweets (the whole world is at your feet and for your asking) and the end of his broken tusk (keep the good, throw away the bad). Hand painted front panel depicting a scene featuring a seated Buddha with worshippers, a temple, elephants, a deer, a monkey, ducks, horse, a rabbit, and a wise man surrounded by attendants. Important and rare mask carved in wood fungus, of the tinder fungus type (fomes fomentarius), of rounded triangular form, with perforated oval eyes, incised mouth and nose in relief, probably added. An antique Tibetan storage trunk with hard mounts and a hand painted dragon that appears to be dancing holding sacred jewels in each claw. A magnified textile pattern surrounds the dragon design. Ensemble of vintage silver and ancient banded agate beads from Sri Lanka. These were acquired in Kandy in 1998 or 1989, the banded agates are all hand carved and are at least 1000 years old (conservatively). Exquisite antique silver necklace, circa 19th century. Each tiny bead is hand folded into a geometrical shape, some of them still have traces of gold wash I doubt if this kind of craftsmanship can be done today. The hexagonal pendant opens up into a “secret” lime box, and the clam shell bead is actually a bell. Included is an ancient excavated garnet bead. Total Length: 87cm/34.3in. An antique Indian miniature panting of harem musicians. Three beauties sit on an ornately decorated carpet and pillows. Two of them play instruments while a third claps in time. Around them is a lush garden with birds and a fountain. In the background, a marble pavilion stands with an ornate red and gold canopy. Wealthy residences had a protected area where all the women of the house lived. This scene takes place in the antahpur (inner courtyard) of such an area...

Tibetan Himalayan region Tsampa Tea Bowl, hard Silver wrapped Burlwood Tea Bowl, Ca. 1900, 2 1/2" high, 4" diameter on top rim, Silver impressed and raised Buddhist design on high foot wrapped around the bottom. Red Wax Seal mark in the center of the bottom. Hand hammered mark inside silver bowl, not a damage.

Two strands of Kushan/Bactrian of mixed stone (mostly carnelian) beads. I acquired these along with coins dating from 1st- 4th CE from the same site in North West Pakistan, so these can be dated no later than 1500 years old.
