Large Chinese late Qing dynasty slightly rounded cylindrical form jar with lid decorated in underglaze blue in a continuous landscape scene with historic warriors from the Three Kingdoms Period fighting on foot and on horseback set against a white porcelain ground with a grayish tint. The interior and base are glazed. 12" high x about 10 1/2" diameter. Weighs 11 lbs. Late 19th to early 20th century. Solidly potted and in very good overall condition...

Rare early “si zhi” (four straight lines) style inkstone carved from an old fired brick. The characters on the brick are in an archaic style, no longer in use today. The square shaped flat bottomed inkstone with sloping grinding surface did not become popular until the Song Dynasty, so it is possible this was made into a inkstone long after it was a brick. Chinese are very fond of creating ink stones out of “found objects” such as roof tiles etc...

This is an authentic Neolithic Hongshan jade object, described in the literature as "hoof-shaped." Current scholarly opinion is that it was used to hold the individual's hair, based on where these objects have been found in excavated tombs. The piece measures 4-1/2" in height and is 2" in diameter. As with most published examples, it has two holes near the base which would have allowed the insertion of a "pin" to hold the hair in place...

Lovely hand silk embroidered alter “skirt” with the Eight Chinese Immortals and three double happiness roundels at the top. I recently acquired this with a group of other vintage textiles; this is in perfect condition with a lovely palate of colors. Late 20th century, this would have been hung in in front of a temple altar table’s legs. H: 100cm/40in x W: 94cm/37in. Appears never to have been used.

This is an example of the "disc-shaped" (squarish) bi discs illustrated by Jessica Rawson in her definitive work on Chinese jades, at page 113. (Chinese Jade From the Neolithic to The Qing, British Museum Press, 1995).As noted (ibid), most are slightly squared. This piece is made from a pale celadon stone with darker inclusions and veining...

Found in the Philippines. Featuring a central decoration of cranes amongst lotuses, bordered by an encircling pattern, underneath mandarin ducks in a lotus pond, and the exterior with a floral pattern. Measurements: diameter (13.18"inches or 33.5cm) across. Condition: a small corner portion of the plate has been professionally restored but still excellently presents itslef...

Very rare small celadon Yueyao lugged jar from a Zhejiang Kiln, circa Five Dynasties/Early Northern Song. This type of ceramic was a precursor to Longquan ware. There is a firing crack and some fritting (caused by pockets of air trapped beneath the glaze during firing) on one side- noted in enlargements. D: 9cm/3.5in and H: 6cm/24in.

An authentic neolithic Chinese nephrite jade bi. The piece measures 6-1/2" in diameter. The central hole is drilled conically from one side only. A medium green nephrite with darker inclusions. There are visible marks inside the central hole showing how it was drilled. Authenticity is guaranteed. All of these jade pieces that I am listing come from a collection formed before 2000 and are not modern copies.

This is a large, substantial ancient Chinese nephrite object which appears to be composed of two opposing "core" elements from a cong or similar tube object...
