Chinese Export Rose Mandarin low relief and open design Porcelain Brush Pot, 4 1/2" high, 2 1/2" diameter, Ca. 1830, with molded and low relief design of Chinese Scholars in the garden scene, raised design in overglaze enamel decoration. Glaze star crack on the bottom and two(2) stains on unglazed bottom rim. Some kiln bubbles popped on the gilded top rim which is somewhat worn from the usage.

For comparison (of enamels) we have pictured two export Lion Joss Stick Holders (usually dated either late Qianlong or Jiaqing, circa 1800) in our last enlargement. Chinese Export Famille Rose Porcelain oval shape Barber's Bowl, 12 1/2" wide, 9 1/2" deep, 2 3/8" high, early 1820's, with overglaze Famille Rose flowers in the center inside the deep bowl. All the decorations are done overglaze enamel on the orange peel like surface and highlighted with gold. The cover is delicately and minutely engraved with a scene of figures at leisure in a pavilion surrounding a vacant shield. The sides bear panels of very finely worked flowers with geometric borders.
