This baby carrier panel is a lovely old piece. Embroidered with a very intricate flowing pattern using silk floss and wrapped thread and satin stitch techniques. This piece is bordered with hand-loomed fabric. The back of the piece has recently been replaced. Condition is good 19" x 21.5

There have been decorative textiles sewn into squares or rectangular shapes since the Edo period in Japan. The small squares are made for tea ceremonies; the medium to larger sized ones (called fukusa) are used to cover seasonal and ceremonial gifts. This old Chinese panel was acquired in Japan mixing into our fukusa collection.

Fine and rare two paneled silk embroidered “wedding blanket” from the small Maonan minority people of northern Guangxi Zhuang Province. This piece is 60 to 90 years old with a hand spun cotton foundation and hand spun silk. The frontal surface of the blanket is decorated with embroidered floral and phoenix symbols and key fret pattern highlighted by “floating weft” threads...

A decorative fragment taken from the cuffs (horse-hoof shape) of a summer silk dragon robe with five clawed front facing dragons (couched pure silver wrapped threads) on a fish net like gauze weave. Each dragons appears to be wearing headdress. The cuffs from each sleeve are sewn together in the center and the borders are silver brocades. Circa, first half of 19th century. Approx. 19" x 15 1/4"

A square cover or shawl made of shiny purple silk beautifully embroidered with birds, flowers, butterflies and tendrils. The long fringes multi-colored. With light blue silk lining. Condition: fine, lining with one hole. Dimension without fringes: 151 cm x 151 cm.

Fabulous antique Chinese table apron textile with 4 gold dragons, (originally had nine), above water on a blue silk background with auspicious Buddhist symbols and a two inch floral border of peonies, irises, and butterflies in blues and white, the border possible was added at a later date. Excellent condition dating from the 19th century. Measures 62" wide by 36" long.

Antique Chinese 3 piece textile set with table apron panel and 2 chair coverings. Made of beautifully embroidered shi-shi dog (gold lion) with flames, clouds, peony, and bamboo on blue silk. Overall good condition with some loose gold thread and slight discoloration. Chair coverings backed by cinnabar linen. Table apron measures 40" wide by 32" long. Up for sale is a very large antique chinese red silk tapestry brocaded with polychrome peonies & vines, and gold thread shadows, Qianlong period. The panel is made up of 2 pieces from a yardage, each about 27" wide, and that explains why there is a seam in the middle; the panel backed with light yellow silk. Chinese late Qing dynasty red silk temple hanging or altar frontispiece densely embroidered in metallic-couched and polychrome silk threads with the “Three Star Gods” and other symbols of good fortune, longevity, and happiness. A horizontal panel across the top is embroidered in gold with four padded characters. Reading from right to left, these read “fu (happiness), lu (wealth), shou (longevity), and xi (blessings).” Each character corresponds with one of the figures below...
