The crackled glaze along with the celadon is a classical style that began during the Song dynasty and became popular among the ruling elite. Sold in our Liverpool shop - August 2018 / 利物浦店内售出 - 2018年8月 A large heavy bottle vase depicting two confronting five clawed dragons amongst clouds and flames and above breaking waves. The base carries the six character seal mark of the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1795)but possibly made later during the 19th Century. It arrived in the UK before 1910 and is from an old West Country estate.
Condition - the neck has been reduced and polished. There are no chips or cracks and there has been no restoration but there are surface scratches...
